Purpose of IONMA complex process, IONM (also IOM) records the many different tiny electro-physical signals generated by neural structures. If a neural structure is compromised, subsequent changes may be seen from the baseline data. These changes, noted by our CNIM Technicians within the OR and monitored by our real-time readers (Board Certified Neurologists across the country), immediately alert the surgeon that a neural structure may have been compromised, thus reducing the possibility of neurological complications. Early intervention may not only be a life-saver, but it can prevent or reduce the neurological impairments and financial costs often associated with post-operative complications.
Today’s IONM systems are capable of monitoring multiple neural pathways at the same time. Because RITON technicians are required to receive CNIM certification and seek advance training in the latest techniques, they are able to conduct multiple tests to monitor as many neural pathways as possible. Our technicians acquire and record quality data and are experts with IONM equipment applications and troubleshooting. |
